Fans of the Dragon Ball series are craving to get their hands on the rare Dragon Ball Z cards which are part of the Dragon Ball Z Card Game released by a Japanese firm. The card was inspired by the hit anime series of the same title which was created by Akira Toriyama. The original game was actually discontinued in the year 2006 but Bandai, a Japanese company, has revived the game in 2008 but with a completely different set of rules. Part of the new game is the collectible cards which are depictions of the actual events in the anime series. The most coveted of these cards are the rare and uber rare cards. Want to know how to get rare cards?

Dragon Ball is a very popular anime series which was created by Akira Toriyama. It was shown in different countries across the 4 continents. The anime series focuses on the adventures of San Goku, the story’s protagonist, in battling evil and restoring peace, harmony, and development in the anime serie’s portrayal of the future earth. Goku, together with his friends Vegetta, Klirin, Vulma, and Piccolo battle dangerous villains like Freeza, Cell, and many more in different battle fields. Goku is a Super Saiyan (a being that turns into a monstrous ape and later into a powerful human being with spiky golden hair) that possesses power beyond imagination. The power that Goku possesses is enough to cause damage to the planet where the battle with the enemy takes place. To restore the planet to its old peaceful state, Goku and his friends must collect a set of dragon balls from various places and even worlds. They must bring it in one place to release the magical and powerful dragon. Each can make a wish to the dragon and it will make their wishes come true. Once done with the business, the magical dragon disappears and the balls fly out in space to different locations. After this, the cycle begins again. Fight evil, collect dragon balls, make wishes, and restore peace. This simple idea has captured the eyes and the hearts of millions of people all over the world. It became a massive hit and extremely popular that it spawned a card game of itself – the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game.

The Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game was released by Score Entertainment in 2000 with the initial starter decks included. After a few months, Score Entertainment released boster packs to aid players in levelling the competition higher. In 2006, the game has already been changed to Dragon Ball GT Trading Card Game and has had 18 expansion sets. However, the trading card game was discontinued in 2006. Luckily for Dragon Ball fans, Bansai has recreated the game and made a whole new game with unique rules and game plays. The game was released in 2008.

The Dragon Ball Trading Card Game is played using cards. Each card has its own rarity rating: 1 star, 2 star, 3 star, 4 star, 5 star, 6 star, and 7 star. 1 star cards are those that can be bought or gained through any way you can think of. 2 star cards are also quite common but these cards are for card collectors. 3 star cards are uncommon but can still be obtained through simple means. 4 star cards are fixed cards, they are usually included in starter decks. 5 star cards are rare and these cards are notably more difficult to find than other cards. In fact, it may only appear once in a booster pack (you are lucky if you have one). Cards with 6 stars are ultra rare cards and it is very difficult to have one. You can open many booster packs but still find no 6 star card. 7 star cards are uber rare cards and can only be obtained through Score tournaments or by buying in extremely hefty prices (for a card, that is).

So, how do you get one of these rare cards? Simple. Research. Decide on what rare card you want (you cannot get more than 2 at one time, believe it). Then, try to sign up on several sites that promote Dragon Ball Z. Participate in their forums and ask the members if they want to trade cards with you. Ask them if they have rare cards and offer them a good deal. Some players will accept your offer while others would say no. Be patient and make sure that you offer the best deal possible, one that the other member holding a rare card cannot just say no to. Remember, these cards are called rare for a reason so do not expect to find one so easily.
